Mahishadal Girls' College, pioneering the advancement of women's education in the District of Purba Medinipur since its establishment in 1969, stands as a beacon of empowerment and progress. Among its many endeavors, the introduction of Computer Science in 2006 marked a significant stride towards modernizing its curriculum and preparing students for the digital age. The journey started on 23.06.2006 as a general subject. Next, the college got the affiliation for Computer Science honors from 19.06.2009. Initially, the department was running with the help of part time teachers and guest teachers. From 22.12.2016 onwards department has one permanent teacher, recruited trough CSC and there are also two SACT teachers in the Department. 

The Computer Science department at Mahishadal Girls' College, rooted in a vision of providing quality education, aims to nurture socially conscious software engineers capable of contributing to the field's advancement. With this broader vision we have also introduced two add-on courses on Data Entry Operator and Digital Awareness and Content Creation.
