Zoology is one of the most popular subjects which comes under the Department of Bio-science. The department of Bio Science, MAHISHADAL GIRLS’ COLLEGE starts its glorious journey from the year 2012. The department is enriched with learning resources such as books, various specimens, permanent slides etc. The laboratory of the department is also well equipped, which help the students in independent learning. The teaching given by the department provides knowledge and a comprehensive appreciation of plant, animal and human at the organism, community and ecosystem level. The departmental excursions are organized in view to study the wild animal and plant diversity, actual habitat status, taxonomical enumeration, economic importance and medicinal importance to the students by visiting various marine aquarium, zoo, apiary, sericulture farm, botanical garden etc.

Objectives of our curriculum:

1. The primary objective of the department is to impart quality education in the subject of Zoology, Botany and Physiology as a basic science and its applied branches.
2. Offering skill based programs and motivate the students for self employment in applied branches of Zoology.
3. To conduct field studies and different projects of local and global interests.
4. The course introduces students to the importance of plants as an integral part of existence on the planet.
5. Expanding physiological knowledge helps students to understand how the body works. It also helps students to determine what goes wrong in disease, facilitating the discovery of new diagnostics, treatments and preventative measures.
