Mahishadal Girls’ College, one of the oldest Girl’s College in undivided Medinipur district, established in August 1969, is a wonderful phenomenon in the educational scenario of Medinipur district. Since 2006, General course in Chemistry has been introduced and bourgeoning successfully with the keen support of the departmental teachers and laboratory staffs. At 2011, Honourse course are affiliated by Vidyasagar University. But in 2012 the first batch of the Honourse students are admitted. The Department has two separate well-equipped rooms with laboratories facilities (Organic & Inorganic Lab and Physical Lab) and two class rooms and one staff cum chemical store room. At 2018 Semester system (CBCS) are introduced. For last 12 years, many of students have been engaged in their higher study that is M.Sc. and B.Ed from our department. Some of students are joined in different job sectors and some of engaged in their research works in different CSIR labs and Universities. Recently, the college and department also offer an online certificate course of Food Packaging and Safety Management. The departments also offer guidance cum supervision of NET and GATE exam of final year (6th SEM) as well as passed out students also.
The department is trying to attain infrastructural self sufficiency with necessary instruments (Centrifuge machine, Heating mental, Distilled water Plant, Water Bath, Hot air oven etc.). We are trying to upgrade the Laboratory more and more.
